Early Normal and Late Retirement
Before the official termination forms (JF4 AND JF8)
are completed , it is
important to refer to the Rule Book (Rules 14,15,18,20)
to check whether
the member is eligible for the respective retirement pension benefits.
As a guide,members qualify for retirement benefits as follows:
- Ages 55-60 years
- Age 60
- Ages 60 to 65 years
The folllowing documents should be submitted to the Fund in respect of all
JF4 and JF8 forms fully completed with Local Authority official stamp.
- Certified copies of member's Identity Card.
- In respect of married members , certified copy of marriage certificate or
affidavit plus spouse's Identity card.In addition, certified copies of minor
children's birth certificates ( those under 18 years or bethween 18 and 23 years
if he/she is undergoing educational courses) must be submitted. In respect of
dependent children undergoing educational courses , a letter from the scholl or
college head is required.
The various benefits
payments from the Fund are subject to the following tax and legislative
On Retiring from the Fund.
i) A member may commute up to one-third of his/her
pension which is tax-free and;
ii) Any monthly pension is taxable as income.
iii) Should a member elect for full commutation of their pension, the full
commutation benefit is taxable as income. The Fund will only pay in full the
benefit upon receipt of a tax directive from ZIMRA.
